Happy Martin Luther King Day

A few of my favorite quotes from Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. --

In the End, we will remember not the words of our enemies, but the silence of our friends.

History will have to record that the greatest tragedy of this period of social transition was not the strident clamor of the bad people, but the appalling silence of the good people.

Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that.

An individual has not started living until he can rise above the narrow confines of his individualistic concerns to the broader concerns of all humanity.

A man who won't die for something is not fit to live.

Nothing in all the world is more dangerous than sincere ignorance and conscientious stupidity.

Our lives begin to end the day we become silent about things that matter.

Whatever your life's work is, do it well. A man should do his job so well that the living, the dead, and the unborn could do it no better.

I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin, but by the content of their character.

Thank you for all you gave us and for all you hoped to give us, Reverend.

I was very sad to hear that his descendants filed a lawsuit against a newspaper (for quoting his speech in an article that was honoring him), Apparantly they copyrighted it and now want anyone using excerpts of it to pay to get permission to do so....I wonder if that includes bloggers =)

excellent quotes.

It's interesting that most of the quotes associated with him are the "I have a dream..." quotes, but some of his best are outside of that one speech.

Excellent reminders.
thanks again

Was anyone besides me alive on that day in 1968 when he was killed?

I know right where the Lorraine Motel is (or was).

Keep up the good work.
